Donation of Books and other items for school children

There are my schools and school children who are badly impacted due to lack of access to resources and support for education. As an association aiming at reaching broader social goals beyond the membership, Peradeniya Agros95 Alumni Association launched a programme to support few needy schools and primary school students in areas affected by various hardships. Three primary schools namely; Madurangala Primary School, Malinda Primary School,  Monarathenna Primary School, Nelumwewa College, Ihalawela Primary School and Kashyapa College have been selected with the support of education sector authorities of Dimbulagana Welikanda Zone in Polonnaruwa District to support under this worthy cause.

The members, their families and friends from all parts of the world came forward with overwhelming support to this initiative with almost Rs. 1,000,000.00 financial and material donations. It enabled us to provide books, school shoes and stationeries to all the students in Madurangala Primary School, Malinda Primary School and Monarathenna Primary School while donating a stock of books and cupboards to the school libraries of Nelumwewa College, Ihalawela Primary School and Kashyapa College.

The association would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to many institutions and people who contributed to this worthy cause. The Director-General and the staff of Mahaweli Authority and the Zonal Educational Officers of Dimbulagala Welikanda supported us in a various manner. Appreciations must also be extended to the of Sri Lanka, Education Publications Department, DSI Company Limited, Corps of Agriculture and Livestock of Sri Lanka Army, all the members, their families, and well-wishers also supporting and contributing overwhelmingly. We believe it will bring a smile to the beautiful faces of those children and pave a pathway to a brighter future.
