Peradeniya Agros 95 Alumni Association congratulates W.A.D. Nayananjalie who was promoted as Professor in Animal Science with effect from February 2019. She started her career as a temporary Demonstrator at the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, where she completed her first degree in 2001. After successful completion of M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology in 2004 at Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, she joined the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka and worked as a Demonstrator in the Faculty of Agriculture. Prof. Nayananjalie joined the Department of Animal and Food Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture in February 2007 as a Lecturer (Probationary) in Animal Science. During her tenure as a Lecturer, she received a research assistantship to follow a Ph.D. degree in the Department of Dairy Science, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, the USA and she completed her doctoral studies in 2012. During her career, she has been awarded NFP-KOP Fellowship in 2018 from Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation, Wageningen, Netherlands to follow a short course on “Milking to Potential” and another fellowship in 2019 under the Orange Knowledge Program (OKP) in the Netherlands to follow a short course on “Dairy cattle nutrition, forage production and conservation” in the Aeres University of Applied Sciences in Dronten, the Netherlands. She has published over 40 research papers in reputed journals and also delivered invited talks at several international conferences. With these enhanced academic attainments, she continues her service to the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka in a further productive way while contributing to national development at various levels.
