An online session has been organized on 31st January 2021 for the members and their families of the association to provide with practical tips on maintaining physical fitness. This session was conducted by Varuna Rathnabharathie, one of our own alumni from the 95 batch of the Agriculture Faculty, University of Peradeniya. He is now living in Melbourne, Australia and a well-known fitness instructor while being a certified personal trainer of the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers. He is also famous within in various social media platforms and Sri Lankan electronic media too.
The scientific fundamentals in maintaining the fitness are often missing when most of us concern in doing workouts, running, or walking. Varun brought some interesting fundamentals during this session specifically maintaining fitness specially, for those who have crossed the age of 40. The simple tips provided by him in the areas of motivating yourself to engage in regular fitness activities, varieties in exercises, scheduling physical exercises, food habits and nutrition aspects got the interest of many of our members and their families. The session has been commended by all the participants. Based on the feedback of the participants, the association is planning to have a few “on demand” follow up sessions.
